The Spartan Showcase Classic has become a premier event in youth basketball, attracting teams from across the nation and selling out every year for the past decade. With over 350 teams participating, this highly anticipated tournament offers players a unique opportunity to compete with teams from 8-10 different states, fostering regional diversity and spirited competition. Organized with multiple divisions, the Spartan Showcase Classic ensures teams play against others of similar caliber, making every game exciting, balanced, and challenging. Known for its high standards and seamless organization, the tournament has earned a reputation as a must-attend event for teams looking to test their skills, gain exposure, and enjoy the thrill of playing on a larger stage.

  • Divisions: Boys  –  3rd - 8th Grade

  • Certification: Exposure Certified – all games tracked and reported for player development & recruiting visibility

Spartan Showcase Notes

• We are looking to have a great event with a record high of 360 Boys teams!
• Please be respectful and considerate to all the gate and site supervisors, as they are doing their jobs to make this a good experience for all involved.
• You will need to bring cash for the entry fee as there are no credit card machines to pay with.
DO NOT REMOVE WRISTBANDS! (Will be charged again if wristband is not on your wrist)

Admission is $20 per day or $30 for the weekend. Cash is the Method of payment.

• Please remember to bring your own sports chair as some of the gyms do not have seating available especially at MSU.

Tournament Rules

1.) Each team MUST provide a score/clock keeper

2.) All games are 20-minute running halves stopping last 3 minutes of the second half

3.) Each team gets 3 time-outs per game and 1 additional if overtime

4.) If a team is up by 25 points in the 2nd half it is running clock until score is lower than a 15-point lead

5.) Teams can press until they get up by 20 then please take it off

6.) Free throws will be played on the release

7.) All players will receive 6 personal fouls before being ejected for the game

8.) All free throws are 1 & 1 unless it is a shooting foul: bonus starts on the 7th foul (there is no double bonus)

           A.) If team gets Technical foul other team is awarded 2 points and the ball

9.) Halftime is 3 minutes in length

10.) Overtime will consist of 2 minute running time, double overtime will consist of 1 minute running time 3rd overtime is sudden death win by 2 points

11.) If there is any disputes the site supervisor will make all final decisions

12.) 2 Technical fouls will result in being removed from the bench for the rest of that game only

13.) If a coach/player/spectator is involved in any fighting and gross sportsman like behavior at all you are disqualified for the rest of the event. Remember score keepers are neutral parties and cannot cheer or say remarks while sitting at the score table.

14.) First team listed or on top of bracket is the away team and must wear dark uniform

15.) To determine pool seeding we will use the following:

            A.) head to head B.) plus or minus 15 C.) total points scored

16.) No game will start before the scheduled time unless both coaches agree

17.) We will allow a player to play up a grade for the same club. If a player is on 2 teams, he can

play on both teams during pool play only. For bracket play a player may only play on 1 team.

This will eliminate any issues of a player joining another team once his team has been knocked

out. If a player is caught playing on a 2nd team he will no longer be allowed to play and any

points scored by the player will be removed from the score board.

 

​Roster Rules

This is a grade-based Event/All exceptions would need to be approved by tournament director before the event. Proof of age and/or grade is required for all players on roster. Acceptable proofs of age are, clean photocopies of birth certificates, adoption papers, or immigration papers. Proof of grade is a clean copy of any report card of the current school year or school documentation that indicates current grade level. Teams are required to always have

proof of age and grade on hand. If a team is found with ineligible players, they may have to forfeit all previous games and possibly be removed from the event. Protest: All roster protests must be filed in writing and given to the Tournament Director before scheduled game time and accompanied by a $100 protest fee for each player being protested (refundable if protest is upheld) If the protest is valid the protested team forfeits all previous games. Upon request, teams must provide proof of eligibility within 10 minutes of requested proof to the site director. So, if you have someone questionable please have proof of grade/age readily available. The tournament director has final say on all ruling.
